Mystery Mills & Oddities
This page features mills that have puzzled or intrigued our volunteers. Can you throw any light on what you see? We may know a little about the mill but not enough – so please help if you can!
If you have similar mystery mills you cannot identify then please email a jpeg (approximately 600 pixels wide – ie 40 – 100KB) with a short explanation. We will then display them and see if they are recognised.

A WINDMILL NEAR HASSOCKS
-
Clive West
I wonder whether anyone can identify the windmill depicted in the old oil painting shown on the left. The painting is dated 1907 with the location "Near Hassocks" written on the reverse, and although it appears to be located at the top of the Downs, it does not appear to be either Jack or Jill Windmill at Clayton. |
