I am pleased to report that Dr Ron Cookson, founding chairman of the Mills Archive Trust, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list, "for services to heritage".

I know that Ron was astonished and gratified by the news. He has asked me to say that he regards the award as national recognition of the hard work and dedication shown by all of the Mills Archive's friends, volunteers and trustees, and he is delighted to accept it on that basis.
