Does anyone know wether that windmill is a "real historic windmill" or is it a merely ethnographic shell that is supposed to be a copy of something that might have looked similar... ? I can hardly imagine the sails being operable at all - although, maybe strong arctic winds might have forced local craftsmen to develop sails that generate as few energy as possible not to damage the machinery?
Cheers from Germany

Peter Cobley wrote a nice piece on a windmill he discovered on a trip to Iceland. The article can be read here

I am reminded of the 1976 Bibliotecha Molinologica publication by Beenhaker, which is now out of print, but there is a second hand copy at http://shop.millsarchivetrust.org/ price £10
