Maud Foster windmill has lost a sail

In the high winds of last weekend, 8th-9th November, Maud Foster mill in Boston had one of its sails snapped off, and fall through the roof of the neighbouring building.

As Maud Foster is a 5 sailed working windmill, the loss of one sail means the mill will be out of action (by wind) until it can be replaced, since the remaining 4 sails cannot be worked since they are out of balance.

There's a report including a small picture at the Boston Standard.

See what the Mills Archive has on Maud Foster mill.

Mark's link to the Mills Archive works well, provided you are logged in on that site when you click on the link. I found the first click took me to their login page and after logging in I pressed the back button twice on the browser to get back here and then click on Mark's link again.

It then works like magic! 23 marvellous pictures.
