exaggerates Heage's claim for " the only female flour miller in in the country". Mildred has been the miller at Mapledurham for 30 years!

Of more interest (see picture of Windmill Island Gardens miller Alisa Crawford sitting outside Holland's DeZwaan windmill) is the new lady windmiller trained in Holland to work in the USA

The nice thing is (being married to a lady miller) that the message is getting across that running a mill is not just a male occupation or interest.

Mildred knows Alan very well (and Heage for that matter) and has absolutely no problem in what Alan said in the report - she also has lots of examples of journalists not getting things quite right.

The real bugbear was when visitors used to come to Mapledurham they alsways mistook her (male) assistant as the miller. Me - I know my place and I would never get between a woman and her mill.
