Gareth Hughes wrote on Facebook:
"Something this obituary does not bring to the fore is Ken's concern with the next generation. Apart from his long involvement with the SPAB's education committee, training, and funding, the next generation of conservation architects, I recall his, and Helen's, extraordinary hospitality to me as a young architecture student in the mid 1990s, when he cheerfully employed me during the summer holidays, and taught me more than I think I had learnt in the previous three or four years in a matter of a fortnight or so. We actually got relatively little work done, but the talking, over Helen's excellent tea and cakes, was invaluable - and that I associate first identifying the smell of dry rot with my time with Ken is a tribute, and by no means a criticism. He still, in his seventies, had a schoolboy's enthusiasm for new discoveries, and unlike the crusty old Don he sometimes pretended to be, he also knew the importance of sharing those discoveries freely with all comers."

Ken's obituary appears in the Times today (Saturday 8 August)

The printed version contain two large photos of the wheel at Painshill. The web version at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article6787679.ece includes this fine photo taken by Erik Stoop at the TIMS conference in the Netherlands in 2007.
A memorial fund for Ken has been established at http://millsarchivetrust.org/memorial.htm

Good news. Your Wikipedia article is excellent. I have sent you separately the photo we gave the Times to use and which only appeared in full on the online version of the obituary.
Thanks to Erik Stoop of the Dutch Mills Archive for providing it
